river day

today i spent the afternoon with 2 of my good friends jackie & audra. it is mid march, 70 degrees. we were tanning and relaxing on the american river. this is california. it was a nice day. i skipped some rocks. its a hard thing to do & to learn but i did a couple. jackie taught us to hula-hoop and i am going to continue my practicing and learn some cool things. i told my paps about the speeding ticket i got . but first i called my neighbor , who lucky for me is a retired sheriff. i asked him a couple questions about the ticket and whatnot. he is great. so i had some info to tell my dad to put him at ease. PHEW. he was upset but not as mad as i thought. stress is off my shoulders. goodness.

oh my, did i tell you all that i am going to the Holi festival in utah march 27th/? its true. i am so so so excited and i am so happy to be going this year. i can not wait to take photos and celebrate this. i can't stop smiling and wiggling around with excitement. some links:

then i was driving home afterwards, i went past goldbud orchards and saw this beautiful scene:

this is my home. its where i live. can you believe it? all this beauty so close in one area.

vultures

so the other day i saw so many vultures on the side of the road so i had to pull over. i was standing among over 20 of them and it was just fascinating. so i went back again today and they were all still there eating and picking at the same dead buck. but today the bucks head and part of his torso were gone. the vultures fly away or sit on posts when i get out of the car. but today one of the vultures was posing for me with his wings out, he did for 2 minutes, and i managed to get a decent picture of it. it was really cool! i think my next painting will be vultures "dining". i wonder if anyone will want that painting. if they don't that's fine because at least i'll know how amazing it really is and the meaning it has to me. just being around that many and seeing that many. so awesome.

my new lamp shade:

this is the lamp shade that i made. bought the lampshade new. then ... customized. with cords, lace bits and fringe. with my handy dandy... hot-glue-gun. the hot-glue-gun is my FAVORITE toy in the world. officially. i was looking all over my room and then all over the house for more things to use the hot-glue-gun on. i found nothing.

plus, randomly and surprisingly my mom just happened to have drawers full of different cords, lace, fringe etc so i didn't have to go pick anything out at a store. i just got to dig through what we already had. how random. my family is so conveniently random. that's an oxymoron if i ever heard
