Born Free

Spur of the moment, decided to join my friends Greg & Ady on their annual trip to California for Born Free, a giant motorcycle show. I had no idea what to expect, but I figured as long as I was with friends, it would be a welcome journey. We headed out that Thursday around 5, four bikes total, four people total in the van. 3 bikes and 3 drivers on the road behind us. 

Van occupants: Greg - driver, Ady - copilot, Dakota - 2nd copilot, Me - extra baggage. 

Road riders: Brijan, Nickolas Crosby, Jess. 

Pretty damn fun crew, from what I knew so far. 

We all made it finally, to St George and we stayed in Ady's parents house before heading all the way to California the next day. So thankful to them for letting us all crash there to get some rest before the long ride to the destination. We woke up at 5 am and I decided to get on the back of Brijans bike and drive with him to some random gas station before Vegas. It was GLORIOUS. Total dream...

Driving through the red desert in the early morning with the sun rising steady on our backs. The soft smooth colors in the sky, the warm pockets of air slamming our skin with breaks of cool gusts to cool us off briefly. The sage brush, the plateaus, the canyons. It was something out of a movie, a scene of a movie - the people cruising steady through the sands, clays & dirts of the seemingly endless desert. The rising heat of the unforgiving desert, determined to make it there in one day, wind blown and exhausted. Nothing quite like it. I kept imagining what was out in those "fields" of sagebrush. Jack rabbits, I kept thinking. Those are my favorite. And maybe some burrowing owls, settling back into their cool shaded homes for the day. 

My mind was going and going with thought. I was on the back of this fantastic bike, holding onto this guy I just met 4 days prior. Trusting him to get me to the destination alive and in at least one piece; I felt totally comfortable and safe. I was happy. 

However, minutes before the gas station where we were stopping to meet up with the van, I got heat exhaustion. Ops! So I was restricted to the van again, with lots of water. 

We finally made it to camp. We hung out. Rested. Brijan and I went and got pizza. He's the sweetest. Then, the next day: BORN FREE! We headed out, all on our bikes. The people watching was amazing, obviously. All the thousands of bikes, so much fun to look at their details. 

We spent the day wandering around, looking at booths, bikes, people and vans. Each nachos and tacos and drinking waters like crazy. It was so much fun. I loved it. Same thing Sunday - but on Sunday I got really too hot and didn't have as much as the day before. Bummerrrrrr. But still so much fun. I liked everything about the trip. Happy I went, happy about the people I was surrounded by.

oh hey there...

i went to mexico for two weeks

that was awesome. it was crazy beautiful and surreal. 

i was there? what? 

i still cant believe it. 

these are my two best pals from the trip , my car mates , my bunk buddies & the two funniest people ive met in a long long time ... wes & jen. i miss them terribly. oh how i hate distance... well... no... i dont hate distance... i hate not being able to jump across it whenever i want. 

i miss everyone from my trip. they were all my family. love them. 

i swam with sea lions

had dolphins swimming under and around my boat 

saw whale sharks under my boat. a swordfish. flying manta rays. 

dove for clams and ate them. ate raw scallops from the bottom of the sea of cortez

had gangs of bullseye pufferfish following me at all times whenever i went in 

bird watched the most incredible species

slept on cots on the beach underneath hundreds of stars every night

got a mean tan 

and didnt break any of my nails 

so all in all... amazing trip. wanna see photos? OKAY SURE! 

thats just some. i am still waiting for the other photos to surface from other peoples cameras. 

my soul grew larger from being in mexico. 

its a great place.

LA...

so i went to LA for 5 days.

for my overview on my trip to mexico. got the lowdown and the need-to-know details. figured out my ride down (headed down in a 2011 subaru outback, style!) and learned that my trip will be made into a documentary by PJ Palmer - which i find appropriate. because cameras dont bother me... most of the time. 

i also did some other things on my trip ... went to the natural history museum with tayler. went and visited my cousin Ali and she did my nails. went to hollywood with brent & holly who are visiting from england. went back to hollywood to go to an awesome show. went to disneyland with two babe'n dudes. and all around... had a good time.

southern california vacation

so i got back from my 7 day vacation with my boy & girl - mitch & payton. we stayed at mitch's sisters house with her family . they are so wonderful and welcoming! i really loved it. we went to the beach, universal studios, disneyland and did so many other fun things. it was such a sweet fun filled vacation and i am so happy. i love my little family so much ! here are some photos from the trip ...

i had

rice for dinner.

rice for meals from now til a while. i need to slim down so i don't look like a walrus for winter.

i need new clothes. that are unique and actually look good on me and that aren't so plain and boring. i also need a vacation. to a tropical place probably.

we got a new stove today. our kitchen looks pretty fly these days. we finally got all our appliances to match - stainless steel with black. nice. and we painted our countertops grey. now all we need is to re-do the floors in the kitchen and BAM - we can sell this place and peace out.

i've started on my herbal courses. its so fun. but i just wish i had a place locally to go to to purchase herbs that i need. or that i had an herb garden. but its too cold to start one now. boo.

super slacking

i've been such a slacker here in the blog world! sorry!
not like anyone reads my junk anyway. but still.
sooo not much is new....

just packing my bags for a trip to UTAH!

then when i get back from utah next monday i have a busy rest of the month... mayas 21st bday is on friday at her & gabes house , its gonna be so fun. then i have a wedding to shoot on saturday. thennnn on the 25th i have my surgery.

i'm stoked for another year in Tahoe for the 4th of July. last years 4th was super hilarious and crazy ... brooke & i went to tahoe to her friends house on the lake and it was just some wild weird party and we walked out into the lake to watch fireworks. i love & miss my brooke! ah! '
then on july 5th... BRENT COMES HOME! i havent seen him for a year .. i miss the guts out of him.

tomorrow i am going to the lagoon (2nd picture down below) for a swim & tan sesh with audra. jackie would come... but she missed her flight back from florida. haha. i miss jackie. i miss all my friends.

why is it that people with small minds have such big mouths?

its been such a lovely couple of days. warm enough to wear shorts and a tanktop & sandals... my most favorite attire. (after bathing suits or clad) i love to feel as much air and warmth on as much of my skin as possible. thats why im a summer girl. a beach bum... a river rat... whatever you can come up with. the sun recharges my spirits and lifts my soul. i cant wait until it really starts to heat up around here...
i head to utah in exactly ONE week. holy yes !! i am so excited. i hope i'm ready and i dont forget anything. i hate forgetting stuff.
i could really go for a tube top or a strapless dress right about now.

i think i might switch back to using shampoo & conditioner... because my hair seems to be having a hard time. its so thin and long that it just gets tangled SO easy. i sort of look like a bum ... haha. maybe i'll do every other day or something.

monday night felt like saturday night

went out last night with audra& vanessa. got a realllllly yummy beer. Grimbergen . twas great and i wanted another one. they served it to me in a wine glass tho... kinda bugged me. but Mitch said that's what they do sometimes? i felt like i got less than what i paid for haha.

buuuuut then we went to BJs brewery and got drinks and dessert there... i got two absolutely amazing Pina Chocoladas .... holy crap. i wanted to get maybe 5 . but only got 2. because they are damn expensive. we had fun tho. but now im all thrown off cause i feel like its sunday.
but its Tuesday.
and i have to work both of my jobs today.
and then tomorrow morning my plane for Virginia leaves at 6:30/ ahh! won't be back til Sunday. then i'll have a week & a couple days before i leave for Utah... damn

san fran get away

so i went to sanfran for a day really .

i got to megs around 7:30 on friday and we ordered a cheese pizza & relaxed , went to bed early.

then saturday we went to Haight to find some new heels for me... i found the best pair ever. i am soooo pleased with them. i want to wear them everywhere

then we went to Oakland for our shoot with Michael Blackmon .. it was so fun . i cant wait to see the images from it. it'll be awesome. meg & i got some photos together too which will be way cool to see!!
then after the shoot we went out to meet up with Claire & Erin at Crepes on Cole in the Haight for dinner/dessert & wine (or beer in megs case) . Erin is from Glasgow Scotland and she has an accent ... i love her. and Claire is from Switzerland. so we were all Euro girls. well kinda ... meg just loves to talk in different languages so she counts because of that. haha

then after we were done being extremely loud and ridiculous in Crepes we walked up the street a bit and found a bar called Finnegans Wake so we had to go in . but it was mostly older people but we had fun anyway. tooons of fun. the guy who was sitting next to us bought us all a drink each which was so nice. but we decided he was a vampire .

i took some photos with my phone but of course they are all fuzzy & dark but they are fantastic anyways.
